Made to my own design in 1995. Consisting of turned posts and fiddles with laminated curved rails finished in a clear lacquer. Traditionally, Sepele or Mahogany furniture pieces are stained, but I chose to hold on to the warm natural red of Sepele as many bed rooms are cool and dark. Stained furniture can be detrimental in this situation.

This piece was made during my Apprenticeship with Louis French Period Furniture Styling. Containing a small Kauri drawer dovetailed to a solid Mahogany drawer front. Below the drawer is a sizable cabinet space. Standing on solid Mahogany legs, shaped in Louis style. Tradition was adhered to with a dark stain before the cabinet was lacquered.

This piece started life as a Dining table with a glass top. When the top was damaged, I set about designing and building a wine rack to give this piece a new life. It is now a standalone rack capable of cellaring 4 cases of fine wine.
The turned Spokes, Handles, Felloe and Spindle are original Mahogany pieces, while the circular cabinet has been laminated and veneered with Sepele, and segmented with plywood divisions. It is definitely a talking point at the dining table.

Mahogany timber with Teak Veneer tops. Reeded pedestal and legs add elegance to this versatile table.

I wanted to enhance the contrasts in these black and white prints by using contrasts in timber veneers. The almost white of Sycamore alongside the near black of Wenge has achieved that. Adding Maple Burr also added richness.

This Heart Rimu Coffee Table was specifically designed to have a ships compass gimbal mounted beneath a glass top. A stunning piece of furniture with rich red tones from Rimu which is becoming very rare these days.
Entertainment Unit With Accompanying Book Shelves

Custom made entertainment unit with entertainment systems kept discreet behind Etchlight frosted glass. The design brief being "plenty of shelf space for books".
Painted finish to match door joinery and trims using Sherwin Williams finishes.

From this client I was supplied with the lead light doors and asked that a cabinet be made to hang them on. The alcove was a blank canvas in which to create a functional space without looking cluttered. A desk top was added, turning an unused alcove into a show piece for the lead lighting.

Renovating a bathroom, the client of this vanity started with a vanity bowl they wanted and we sat down together to design the cabinetry to suit their needs. American White Oak, stained to the clients sample and finished with 5 coats of two pot clear Polyurethane at 60% gloss.

A truly Bespoke piece, as the client presented all the drawing and design work for this Storage Unit of drawers. Fronts dovetailed to the sides with traditional runners and kickers. A solid piece of furniture that will stand the test of time. Golden glowing Macrocarpa finished with 40% clear Lacquer.
